So creepy and beautiful

FLEETWOOD MAC - Albatross (1970 UK TV Performance)

I wish I lived in the 70s…

Years: A record player that plays slices of wood. Year ring data is translated into music, 2011. Modified turntable, computer, vvvv, camera, acrylic glass, veneer.

A tree’s year rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth. This data serves as basis for a generative process that outputs piano music. It is mapped to a scale which is again defined by the overall appearance of the wood (ranging from dark to light and from strong texture to light texture). The foundation for the music is certainly found in the defined ruleset of programming and hardware setup, but the data acquired from every tree interprets this ruleset very differently.

beautiful and brilliant

“quinze!”

TateShots: Maurice Sendak

This affectionate 5-minute micro-documentary from Tate Modern zooms in on the iconic creator Maurice Sendak, uncompromising and idiosyncratic and brilliant as ever at the age of 83, to reveal the creatively restless and lovably grumpy workings of his heart and mind.

Keeping my energy up during finals week.

A fabulous claymation set to Nina Simone’s “My Baby Just Cares For Me”

Nina Simone - Love Me Or Leave Me

Okay this is by far one of the best videos I’ve seen on all of the Internet.

April 30, 1967 — Nancy Sinatra with her brother Frank Sinatra Jr. singing “Something Stupid” on ”The Smoother Brothers Comedy Hour”

James Franco curled up in bed reading Amie Barrodale’s story “William Wei,” from issue 197 of The Paris Review

And there’s my orgasm for the day.

My incredibly beautiful/talented/funny/phenomenal friend Heather made this Death Cab cover and I’m reposting it here not because she’s my friend but because I think it’s fucking beautiful.
